Permanent collection of Asian Art at NGP_a view into the exhibition

The exhibition opened in the premises of Zbraslav Castle in 1998 and was the first permanent exhibition of the National Gallery's Asian Art Collection ever. In accordance with the libretto of the curators of the collection, Ladislav Kesner Jr. and Filip Suchomel, its design was designed by the Genius Loci studio, where Gabriela Kaprálová had already worked alongside Jiří Javůrk and Vlastimil Vagaday. The exposition, showing more than a thousand diverse exhibits, entered the environment of the Baroque castle with spatial hints of the possible original context of the objects and colourful accents of the exhibition furnishings, thus creating an autonomous layer in the historical spaces, focusing on the collection presented. The permanent exhibition moved to the Kinský Palace in 2009 due to disagreements over the continued lease between the owner of the castle and the gallery management.
