The assignment for the diploma project of architect Daniela Fenclová in the studio of František Cubr at the Academy of Fine Arts was to replace the block of buildings, which included the former Smíchov Barracks, with new buildings for the purposes of the National Gallery. Daniela Fenclová extended the defined area towards the Vltava riverbank so that the exhibition spaces could communicate with the river.
