The Chirana Research Institute was designed by Libuše Kopřivíková and Miroslav Spurný as a part of the newly established University Hospital in Bohunice. The eight-storey building with a spacious covered terrace on the top floor and a receding covered entrance was conceived as a massive block with a pair of long hanging glass facades. A rounded stair tower rises on the east side, surrounded by corner balconies. After a complete reconstruction in 2012, the building began to be used by the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University in Brno and was connected by a passageway to the rest of the newly built Masaryk University campus. During the reconstruction, the original glass facades were replaced and a new outdoor metal spiral staircase was added on the north side.
