The factory owner Karel Zejda approached the architects Ella and Oskar Oehler with several architectural commissions. After the Oehlers designed the factory building addition and the office building for Zejda's Kazeto suitcase factory, they worked on the design of his rental house with its own owner's apartment. This was situated on the first and second floors and designed as a duplex. Its central part consisted of a large living hall with a gallery. As with most of their projects, the Oehlers also designed the interior furnishings.
