The architect Eva Fantová created the method and for two decades taught the course ZAN - Fundamentals of Architectural Design, intended for first year students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University (later also at the Czech Technical University and at the Czech Technical University). The aim of the teaching is to awaken and develop creativity at the very beginning of the studies on the basis of solving specific problems. The main idea of the program was to reveal the structure of an architectural work in its abstract form and to learn the principles of its organization. Thus, the classes started with the creation of surface, then the creation of volume and finally the creation of space. The method also led the students, among other things, to find appropriate imaging techniques, to organize the documentation into a format or to acquire manual dexterity. The whole procedure was based on theoretical analyses of the knowledge of the laws of the artwork and experimental psychology. It draws primarily on Bohumil Fanta's candidate thesis Architectural Work as a Multifunctional Formation and the texts of Vasily Kandinsky.
