Shortly after graduating from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Marie Davidová participated in a competition for the interior furnishings of the rotunda on Mount Říp as part of the architect Jarmila Gútová's team. The task was to design a space for the Memorial of the Czech State, where the soil from historical battlefields would be commemoratively displayed. Davidová entered the competition thanks to a classmate from the Czech Technical University, who was later unable to continue working on the competition. The work was accompanied by the creation of four models that illustrated the design of the chapel dome, the grille, the tympanum above the entrance and the box for the battlefield soil, which Davidová conceived in the shape of a lime leaf placed in the chancel. Marie Davidová was awarded the top prize for her design. The project by Zdenka M. Nováková in collaboration with the sculptor Stanislav Hanzlík, carried out in 1976-1979, was actually realised.
